Omnichannel support

What omnichannel support is, how it differs from multichannel, and why a shared context matters for AI agents.

Omnichannel support is a customer-service approach where every channel, such as chat, WhatsApp, email and phone, shares one connected view of the customer, so a conversation just continues rather than restarting on each channel.

Omnichannel versus multichannel

Multichannel means a business is reachable on many channels, but each one is a separate island: the phone team cannot see the chat history. Omnichannel connects them, so context follows the customer from one channel to the next and nobody has to repeat themselves.

Why it matters for AI agents

An AI agent is strongest when it is the same agent across every channel, working from one knowledge base and one memory of the conversation. That way a question asked on the website and a follow-up call get consistent answers, instead of a separate bot per channel that each know a little less.
